I’m not really sure what has sparked my interest to want to start blogging about character. Maybe it’s the way people are beginning to treat each other. Maybe it’s all the stuff I’ve been seeing and reading on social media. It could be because I have grandchildren now and I want to teach them how to lead a happy, full life.
I just have this urgent need to get as much information out as I can to anyone willing to read about how to live life more abundantly and to the fullest through knowledge of character values and virtues. It seems that our culture and society as a whole is so far from where our forefathers began and our grandfathers left off. What would they have expected and wanted for the generations and families that followed? There’s an old saying, “Our forefathers would be rolling in their graves if they knew what was happening today.” I think that a lot.
Visit any classroom in the public schools today and you will see what I’m talking about. Lack of respect for teachers. Behavioral problems and bad attitudes abound not to mention bullying.
Drive around town. We have people who disregard red lights and stop signs. People more concerned with their phones than the speed limits. Pedestrians walk in front of cars or just plain in the streets daring drivers to slow down or stop.
And the language people use today would make my grandmother blush. F-bombs and profanity are part of a lot of people’s conversations. Consideration for others is no longer the norm. It’s become this “me” mentality.
So to stop bemoaning all this negativity, I’m doing something positive to hopefully make a difference in someone else’s life. In my weekly blog, I’m going to post a character word to focus on. I’ll talk about what the word means and give some examples on how you can incorporate it into your life.
I hope you will follow along. Getting it once a week in you inbox shouldn’t be too taxing. You can always unsubscribe at any time. Just enter your name and email in the box on the sidebar or at the bottom of the blog.
Thanks for checking in. –God bless, Barb

Very well said, Barb. We need more things like this on here. Too bad the people who could really benefit from your blog won’t see it. Look forward to seeing your next blog. Your wisdom is very satisfying.
