Forgiveness

One of my hobbies is sewing. I started making baby quilts for family members who are having babies. It’s very relaxing. But at times, it can be a challenge.  In making a quilt, each piece of fabric has to be cut exactly the right size and then sewn exactly in a 1/4” seam all the way around.  You know that it’s not possible for every square and every seam to be exact (at least not with me). There are going to be mistakes.

The same is true with people and relationships.

Nothing in this life is perfect. We all make mistakes. Who doesn’t say and do things that we may regret at one time or another? We have all been hurt by someone, and have hurt someone ourselves. That’s a part of life. But it’s how we respond, not react, to the mistakes in our lives that matters. We all have the choice to forgive and/or to ask for forgiveness.

Is there someone in your life that you haven’t talked to or have bad feelings for because of your unforgiveness? Why don’t you just reach out to them this Thanksgiving or Christmas season? Offer your forgiveness or ask to be forgiven. Start the conversation of healing the relationship and work toward reconciling.

I admit, it’s hard to say, “I’m sorry” or “I forgive you”. It takes practice. It may not be perfect or even pretty. But those 2 or 3 little words can have such a positive impact on your life and relationships, not to mention the life of the other person.

Nothing is perfect. We need to accept and be ok with that. We need to forgive and ask for forgiveness to live life to the fullest! Here’s the Forgivemess Activity Sheet.

Happy Thanksgiving & God bless.–Barb
