Orderliness is bliss. It really is. Don’t you just love it when everything is in order? The house is clean. Dishes are done. You’ve got fresh sheets on the bed. —I mean fresh-off-the-clothesline sheets. Everything smells clean and the rooms are tidy. That is bliss.
Spring is right around the corner and I am so ready to open up the windows and let some fresh air in! How about you? My last blog was about getting rid of stuff and this one is along the same lines. After you’ve gotten rid of excess stuff, it’s time to get the rest in order.
If you have ever read the first chapter of Genesis in the Bible, you know there is a natural sequence and order of things. When God created everything, he started with creating day and night and then filled the earth with vegetation, creatures and finally man. And man had dominion over all these things. Dominion is about being in charge of and taking care of our things.
There is an order to life. And when ours is in order, we are content, happier and less stressed. So I came up with a list.
5 Keys to Orderliness:
1. Follow a schedule. Plan your day. Get up early. Go to bed early. Schedule everything in between with a planner. Fill your day. Develop a routine but be able to be flexible. There are times when spontaneity is called for.
2. Monitor your behavior. Keep a smile on your face. Stay positive and upbeat. Keep moving throughout your day. Don’t let the television or your phone be your companion.
3. Take care of the things you’ve been given. Keep your home clutter free and clean. Fix things when they need repairing. (There are so many videos out there on how to’s that we can fix just about everything ourselves. Who knows, you may find a new hobby or learn something new that you could make money doing for other people.) Put things away after you use them.
4. Keep good records. Keep track of your money and where it goes. Balance your accounts. Save important documents in a file. Keep in a safe place. Keeping these things organized will help you find them when you need them.
5. Encourage others to do the same. Teach your children the gift of being orderly. Help them keep their rooms clean and to take care of their things. You are their example. If you are good at being orderly, help someone else who is not. Start a company and do this for a living. People will pay for this service.
So there we have it. 5 Keys for orderliness. The first step is to get started. Don’t try to do it all at once. Just be consistent. Here’s my clean everything checklist for when you’re ready to tackle the cleaning.
“A place for everything and everything in its place.”
“Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial.”
God bless—Barb
