Let’s Get Creative!

As if this daisy wasn’t beautiful enough, my husband added his own creativity. This made my day!

How is your creativity? Are you one of those people who has a flood of new ideas? Do you act on them? Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night, unable to get back to sleep because of some idea that has popped into your head? Let’s get creative!

Keep a notebook with you at all times, even next to your bed, just for the purpose of writing things down. (What if God is inspiring you, giving you these ideas and wants you to create something that He wants accomplished? —Yes, I’m a big believer.)

Some of us have had plenty of forced “down” time during the pandemic to get creative. How did you use the quarantine time? Were you productive? Did you learn a new skill or craft? Did you make the time count for something?

Hobbies bring out our creativity. Do you have one? Can you paint? Do you like to read? Maybe, you like to fish. My hobby is sewing. I have created some doozy outfits in my day! (Sorry kids.) What is a hobby that you admire in one of your friends? How about you start there? I’m sure your friend would love to help you begin. Step outside your comfort zone and learn something new. Let’s get creative!

How’s your imagination? This week I want to challenge you to Think Big. Dream Big. Creativity can help you to live the life you’ve always wanted. What does that look like? Make a vision board. Cut out pictures of what your dream life could be. —Or just write it down. Then take some action steps and work to accomplish it.

When you create, you get a sense of purpose and a confidence that you are creating something that will be of great benefit for you or others. It feels good to contribute to others.

Being creative means finding new ways to do ordinary things. How can you liven things up at home? What new memories can you make that your family will remember for the rest of their lives? Create new traditions and experiences. Change things up a little every now and then. Routines are good, but so is a little spontaneity. Let’s get creative!

God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. Revisit the book of Genesis in the Bible for some inspiration on creativity. We have the capabilities to create so much, to overcome so many obstacles. There’s no better time to start than now.

God bless.—Barb
