This week’s blog is all about goodness. It’s all around us if we look for it. Do you see it, the goodness of others and in others? It’s there. It always has been. Because goodness is everywhere. It’s all in your perspective and what you choose to see.
One of my favorite quotes is from motivational guru, Zig Ziglar. He said, “You can have everything you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want.” At first glance, this quote sounds like it’s just about everyone getting what they want. But that’s not really how it works. When you dig a little deeper into the meaning, you’re going to find that because you are focused on helping other people, the by-product is not actually “getting what you want”, but discovering that your joy comes from helping other people. Do you genuinely seek to help others?
I recently had the awesome opportunity to be part of a three-day, six hours a day, online training summit for influencers. Three days of motivational speakers! Talk about goodness! —Entrepreneurs who are making a difference in the world with their goodness. Not only was this summit free, these speakers taught marketing and business strategies. No one was selling anything except pure unadulterated goodness. I could have stayed there forever. Listening to these people made you feel like you could conquer anything! It was a high performance overload. But it was full of goodness. Everyone in the group brought love and life to the conversation. We all shared our life lessons.
There is nothing more encouraging and hopeful, especially during this year, than knowing there is so much goodness going on in the world. It’s out there. You just have to find it, focus on it, and start living it right where you are. It starts with you. It’s inside of you. It has been there whole time. You just have to dig it out and dust it off. So this week, I encourage you to help someone. Share your goodness, without expecting anything in return. Take the focus off of yourself and put it onto someone else. See how good it will make you feel.
Goodness begets goodness and so it spreads like a wildfire..or COVID. Imagine a world where everyone is sharing goodness with everyone else. And then don’t just imagine it, do it. Spread a little goodness. Schedule it. Practice it for 21 days. Put it in your planner. Make it a daily habit. Watch, then, how much will come back to you.
God bless.—Barb
