How unique are you? You may not think you are, but there is no one else like you. Others may look like you. You could be a twin. But even twins are different.
Isn’t that amazing? God made it so none of us is exactly the same! We are all one of a kind, authentic and genuinely created (in God’s image, no less). No one thinks like you, looks like you or acts exactly like you!
Culture and society will always try to get people to fit into some mold or standard. And in order to live together, there must be laws that govern people. —God’s laws especially.
Growing up as a child, public school was the first place I learned about fitting in and conforming. Most of us just wanted to be liked and accepted, so we fit into groups where we may not have been our authentic selves. As kids, we were quick to judge those who didn’t fit in. We missed out on a lot of creativity and hurt a lot of kids feelings.
Who are you? Who do you want to be? Are you happy? Are you authentic? Do you know your true self? Do others? It’s never too late to be who you want to be. Learn some new skills. Start a new hobby. Make a list. Write it down. Keep it somewhere where you will see it many times a day. God made us to be authentic, not copies of anyone else.
When I met my husband, I was trying to impress him. I knew he was athletic. So I tried running. LOL. —Definitely NOT me. But I told him I was a runner because I thought if he thought I was athletic he would like me more. 36 years later, he’s still trying to get me to go on long walks and bike rides. I’m not a long walk kinda person. Let’s just go around the block. I’m good:)
We are our happiest selves when we choose to be who God made us to be. That is the kicker. Many people today don’t even know who God is— His attributes, His love, His will. And when we don’t know that, we are lost to our own sinful stuff. When we start with Him at the center, all of who we are and who He created us to be starts to come together.
You can choose who you want to be! Yes, you have free will. You choose your thoughts, your emotions and your authenticity.
Be real. Be you. Be the you that God created. There is where you will find joy and happiness. Don’t be an imitation of someone else, or what the culture says you should be. Take some time and find your authenticity.
I really appreciate you taking the time to read my posts.
