It’s day 50 of my 100 Day Challenge and I’m still trying new things and living life to the fullest. I’m starting to get tired, but, I am determined to finish this challenge because– I’m HALF WAY there. The first 50 days started strong but now I’m thinking the Eagles had it right in their song, “Take It Easy”.
‘Take it easy, take it easy, Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand and take it easy.’
Meandering
Are you feeling frazzled these days? Feeling like life is not just moving, but spinning at the speed of light and out of control? Things are happening in this country that I never dreamed would happen. Freedoms are being threatened and there is division and strife at every turn. But that is another blog for another day. (It’s coming. I’ll be taking a stand on a few things.)
Yesterday, parish and school staff came together for a training at work. That is a first. In the 10 years I’ve been there, that hasn’t happened. We are working on a School of Faith program that will help our church and school come together through evangelization. In this training, I heard a story about bees. No, not the birds and the bees. Just the bees and how they collect, digest and process honey and then take it back home to share with their community. Bees, with a purpose, who like to ‘meander, without anxiety’ from flower to flower collecting honey. That word, meander, just hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m ready to meander. That word has almost become extinct in our vocabulary, hasn’t it? I want to move at a slower pace with my purpose.
The Next 50 Days
Anyone with me? Do you feel like slowing down just a little? So adding to my challenge, for the next 50 days I will stop the madness. I’m going to take a cue from the bees and slow down and take in some Scripture and prayer to process and digest and share with all of you. Oh, I will still post my blogs on Wednesdays, but I’m taking a “Meandering” break from the drama of social media.
I’m also going to start saying no to other people’s ’emergencies’ if they don’t line up with my purpose. I’m taking a few days to re-evaluate everything that is on my plate and just find a place to make a stand and take it easy.
Purpose in Life
My purpose in life has taken me many directions. I am a wife, a mother, now grandmother, youth program director, and church secretary. But first and foremost, I am a child of God. He is my everything. He has been with me since my first breath of life and I am His. I have this joy in my heart that overcomes all things and I want to share it with all of you. I hope that is evident in my writing.
Last week I talked about the Novena for St. Teresa of Calcutta. That will start on Friday, August 27 if you are participating. It can be a vehicle that will help you focus on your purpose and bring you closer to God. Schedule it in your planner or calendar and make prayer a daily habit.
God is hope and love and joy, not chaos and strife and confusion. Seek Him with your whole heart. Take a stand and take it easy. Thanks for following along.
God bless.–Barb
