It’s Day 43 of my 100 Day Challenge. Ever heard it said that tough times call for tough measures? There is nothing tougher and more effective than prayer!
I know I write a lot about being positive and upbeat, but let’s face it, we can’t ignore the fact that we are living in some pretty tough times. I’ve had about all I’m going to take with the resurgence of this COVID virus and the division it has caused between maskers and unmaskers, vaccinated and unvaccinated, let alone the fear and death we’ve felt, witnessed, and experienced.
It’s Time to Pray
Haiti just had another earthquake. How much more death and destruction can this poor country take? There are wildfires in California and the people of Afghanistan are now under Taliban rule. This world seems to be out of control. But what can we do? Well, we can’t lose hope. And we can’t continue to just keep talking about it. We have to pray. So I’m asking all of you to pray with me.
The Novena
As part of my 100 Day Challenge, I’m challenging you to pray a novena with me. A novena is a Catholic term for nine consecutive days of prayer. September 5 is the feast day of St. Teresa of Calcutta. That is the date of her death and the date she became a saint in the Catholic Church. Mother Teresa, as I still like to call her, is my role model and hero. She lived her life for Jesus, for the poor and the dying. She had many miracles attributed to her.
From August 27 through September 5, if you would, go to www.motherteresa.org. This is a link to pray the novena and for nine days, let’s join our voices and hearts together in prayer for our families, our communities, our countries, and our world. (This is also a great website for all things Mother Teresa run by the sisters of the Missionaries of Charity.)
The Challenge
Mother Teresa loved Jesus like no other living person I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime. And so I will be praying and asking her to intercede for us here on earth. Maybe you have something going on in your family that needs prayer. –Who doesn’t, right? Maybe you’re tired of this virus and division, too.
My 100 Day Challenge is all about trying new things. There’s a first time for everything. This may be your first novena. How exciting! You don’t have to be Catholic to participate. You just need to pray. I hope you will join me.
Don’t lose hope friends. Keep your spirits high and fixed on God. He has a plan for us in all of this. Just remember that this home is temporary. There is an eternal one waiting for us all if we keep our hearts and minds fixed on God.
We can all sit around and complain and talk about all the bad and unbelievable things going on around us today or we can pray about them believing that God will hear our prayers and heal our land. I believe.
God bless–Barb
