Keep It Simple, Sweetheart

a white and black text board

How does life seem to get so complicated? Sometimes it seems it is moving at the speed of light. I’m a fan of the ‘Less is More’ concept. I just want to keep it simple, sweetheart.

These days there are too many celebrations in the end zones by football players who think the game is about them. We have weddings with 20 attendants in the wedding party. Pharmacists calling on a Sunday afternoon checking on your new medication. (That’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but necessary, and on a Sunday? Doesn’t the poor pharmacist have enough to do with filling prescriptions in our overly medicated population?)

I see how stressed my kids are as they navigate parenthood and work schedules and chaos. Even my own work/life schedule has me wondering if things will ever slow down or is life running at warp speed to keep up with the Information Age?

It’s All Just Distraction

I just want you to know that all of this chaos is just distraction. Someone or something is working very hard to distract you from the things that are most important in this life. And to that I say, keep it simple, sweetheart. –Just give me Jesus.

When life seems to be chaos, and you don’t know how you can possibly add one more thing to your plate, just keep your perspective, put your hands together in prayer and ask the Lord to simplify your life. Ask Him to get rid of all the distractions; all those things that don’t have anything to do with Him.

Get rid of all the unnecessary ‘stuff’ of life. I’d love to see weddings get back to just the maid of honor and best man standing up with the bride and groom. Think of how much money their friends could save. Football players who just play the game with a sense of humility. Physicians or nurses who call to check up on the medications prescribed, or better yet, a healthy alternative to get off those medications!

Keep it simple, sweetheart. Don’t get all caught up in the chaos of the world, but in the peace that Christ has to offer. Take all your cares, stress and worries to Him in prayer. One of my favorite t-shirts says, “Less is more. Less is more. Less is more. More, please.” Just give me more of Jesus.

Thanks for following along. May God bless you with ‘more’. –Barb
