Come On Spring!

The older I get, the more I dislike the cold winter months, the dreary gray days and bitter temperatures at night. Oh I love the sight of falling snow and a warm fireplace, don’t get me wrong. But I love it for about a day and a half and then I’m over it. We’ve been tempted the last few weeks with spring-like temperatures here and there and I am saying, “Come on Spring!”

Are you with me? In my corner of Ohio, winter hasn’t been too bad this year, but throw in a couple of 70 degree days and I’m itching to put the top down on the Jeep! I have ideas for vegetables in the garden and flowers in the front of the house. It’s time for a little sunshine and throwing open the windows for some fresh air and cleaning because I’m ready to break free!

Recharging

Winter is a time of recharging and repairing. It’s a time for recharging our bodies by eating the canned fruits of our labors from the summer, of catching up on some missed sleep from late nights enjoying a beautiful sunset or starry-filled night. It’s a time to plan our vacations and weekend getaways or visits with friends and family.

Action Steps

Come on Spring! It will be here before you know it. Are you ready? Have you made plans and preparations?

This Lent I am enjoying a 40 day challenge where each day I pull a little slip of paper out of a jar. It has been the best challenge, each day doing something for someone else. Thanks to Just Love Prints, a cute little Catholic online sticker store for the freebie challenge. I shared it with 10 other ladies from my church. Today my challenge is to send flowers to a loved one. I wish I had the resources to send flowers to all my loved ones because winter is a tough time for many and flowers are just a way of reminding us that Spring is on the way.

What are some of the creative ways that you endure the last leg of the winter months? Do you have any hobbies? I like to sew. Who can you share your hobby and talent with? Invite them over for a lesson. I also like to read a good book with a great cup of coffee. Tell your friends what book you are currently reading. Ask them to read it too and then have some discussions about it over a coffee or a glass of wine.

Come on Spring! Stay strong because it’s right around the corner. It won’t be long and Easter will be here. Easter is our kickoff to Spring: New life, the Resurrection of Christ, a great reason for celebration. Share the love and invite someone to church with you.

Schedule it in your planner or calendar. Thanks for following along. I appreciate you! God bless.–Barb
