Remember these bracelets? I bought these for my kids and just about everyone I knew. They are still selling them. Maybe we should all start wearing them again as a reminder and ask God to turn our hearts around.
WWJD: What would Jesus do? I’m asking myself that question now. How do we get people to think about their actions and choices with that mindset?
I’m trying to process the win of Issues 1 and 2 in the state of Ohio. So, the following is my opinion and I’m not suggesting anyone agree with me. It’s ok if you don’t agree.
I don’t think Jesus could ever condone abortion, even in the instance of rape, and surely not at nine months. The optimist in me thinks that He would bring joy from any horrible situation. Creating a life from such a tragedy could bring happiness to someone else who is desperately waiting for a child through adoption. That child could someday grow up to be a great lawyer or doctor, we have no idea. As a people, we have to begin to trust that Jesus brought about a great good from His suffering on the Cross. Our sufferings bring about good for us as well.
In the case of legalizing marijuana: Just 8 years ago, this was on the ballot and was hugely defeated. More and more states have been legalizing it. Governments have figured out how profitable it is. Cigarettes was a big industry, too, wasn’t it?
More and more people are looking for something to help them feel better and help them get through life. Except, they aren’t looking in the right places. Jesus has come so that we can live life and live it abundantly.
Turn our hearts around, Lord.
Action Steps
Church attendance is dwindling. Our faith isn’t being passed on to our children and they aren’t passing it on to theirs. If we aren’t careful, we will become a society that has forgotten who God is. Remember the story of Sodom and Gomorrah? (Genesis, chapter 19)
It’s time for some hard conversations with ourselves and our loved ones. It’s time to put God first in our lives, to trust Him and what happens to us.
There will always be evil in the world. We can’t escape it. But there is also good and good overcomes evil every time, double down on the good. We have to know God to recognize the wolf dressed in the sheep’s costume.
- Keep choosing to do good.
- Stay in the Word of God. Read your Bible daily.
- Double down on spreading the love of Jesus.
- Go to church. Fellowship with other believers.
- Buy a boatload of WWJD bracelets and pass them out like crazy!
Because the truth is, friends, as you get further from God, it gets easier and easier to turn away from all His goodness and when your time comes, your hearts will be closed to it. You won’t choose Him in the end.
Jesus, fill us with your love and mercy. Turn our hearts around. Thanks for following along. I really appreciate you! God bless.–Barb
